‘And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.’
Ephesians 6:18

The heart of our church lifeprayer

Prayer is what lies at the very heart of the Christian life, and at St Wilfrid’s we seek to put prayer at the beginning of all we do as a church. Through prayer we believe God will guide us in what we do, how we do it, and also give us an understanding of His timing.

Knowing God’s will

We believe that it is through prayer that we draw close to God, and through prayer that we are given the ability to do His will. We believe that God’s power is released as we pray according to His will.

Alone with Jesus

We encourage every member of the church to grow in their own personal devotional life. It’s important that as Christians we spend time alone with Jesus every day.

Together in prayer

It’s vital that we meet regularly to pray as a whole church and as small groups.

‘Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
prayer

‘Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.’
James 5:13

‘Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.’
Romans 12:12

‘…… the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb.  Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.’
Revelation 5:8

Wednesday Night Prayer

7.30pm in the Church (Fortnightly)
This is our main prayer meeting where we meet fortnightly, alternating with House Group meetings. We encourage everyone who is able, to come to this meeting. Each meeting is led in turn by a different House Group, and focuses firstly on the needs of a chosen nation, then on needs closer to home, to needs in the church and particular personal needs.

Prayer Chain

If you have an urgent request for prayer, we have a prayer chain whereby those on the chain will be informed of the request and pray for the need until they hear otherwise.  Just phone Jo and the message will be passed on in confidence.
Jo Smith is on 01323 483661
