The Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team (BHCT) is a local group of volunteers who’s aim is to bring hope and love we uniquely have in Christ to the desperate and suicidal, those who have no hope. They patrol the 500ft vertical white cliffs around Beachy Head, a famous tourist attraction just 5 miles from St Wilfrids, it is also a very notorious suicide location. Since being formed in 2004 the number of deaths have reduced dramatically. The team work closely with the Police and Coast Guards, who often contact them about reports of people who appear distressed. The team have a number of costs including running vehicles, training, support and counselling services. They see a number of people each year find not only a way to face life but also new life in Christ. To find out more visit the BHCT website www.bhct.org.uk
